Post 250x to 250R
ok im new to this forum so i hope i placed this in the right area. I have a 1987 trx 250x, i am the second owner of it, i bought it off of my cousin who bought it new in 87. I mean this thing is in perfect condition when i got it their wasnt a scratch on it an it still had the original tires all the way around with the little nipples still on it. But any way i just use it to trail ride with my buddies, it was never raced or beat, this may sound stupid but has any one ever tried putting a 250R motor in a 250x frame. can it be done?

Not trying to be a smart ass, but why would you want to do it? Taking a perfectly reliable 4 stroke and replacing it with a 2 stroke that will need the top end rebuilt every few hundred hours? And unless you are a skilled 2 stroke rider, the 250r engine will most likely be too peaky for fun trail riding.

Anyway, yes, I am sure it could be done, depending on how good a welder and fabricator you are. Will probably take a lot of rearranging.

I agree, if using it as a trail machine keep it original. It will be more trail friendly and a ton more reliable.
