The right handlebar brake lever on my son's recon is no longer working. I don't know if it is just an adjustment or where I start to repair it. It does appear to have brake fluid in the master cylinder. Any advice where to begin would be appreciated.

I would remove the cap on the reservoir and check the fluid and try adjusting the brakes. The brake adjusters are towards the bottom side of the brake panel. Just remove the red rubber plugs and rotate the wheel until you see the adjuster, adjust it using a flat screw driver until the wheel stops turning and then back it off a couple clicks (2 adjusters per side).

Just wanted to say thank you. That took care of the problem. Any idea when I should start looking to put new brake pads on my bikes?I have about a 1000 miles on them now.

I have some out there with over 20,000 miles on them and they are still good, others are worn out at 2,000 miles. It just depends on how much they are used. The drums have to be removed to really inspect the pad wear but you can see them with a flash light through the adjuster plug hole.

Stay out of the mud and the pads will last longer.
